Sprouts!

We have sprouts!
Ya all are going to think that this is silly but Melissa and I are excited that this is happening, see before we always bought ready to plant seedlings (except for her herbs) and this year is our first try at starting from the ground up ( no pun intended) We have tomatoes, lettuce, bell peppers and cucumbers all sprouting. This is a new start for us, so excited.

HOMEMADE MOSQUITO TRAP

Modern technology has brought us many benefits, including mosquito traps that cost hundreds of dollars, but sometimes we overlook simple solutions to difficult challenges such as mosquito control. When it comes to controlling pests, research tends to focus on chemicals or concepts that can be patented. Unless someone can make a profit from an idea, the public may never become aware of it.

HOMEMADE MOSQUITO TRAP.

Items needed:

1 cup of water
1/4 cup of brown sugar
2-liter plastic bottle

HOW: 1. Cut the plastic bottle in half. 2. Mix brown sugar with hot water. Let cool. When cold, pour in the bottom half of the bottle. 3. Add the yeast. No need to mix. It creates carbon dioxide, which attracts mosquitoes. 4. Place the funnel part, upside down, into the other half of the bottle, taping them together if desired. 5. Wrap the bottle with something black, leaving the top uncovered, and place it outside in an area away from your normal gathering area. (Mosquitoes are also drawn to the color black.)

Change the solution every 2 weeks for continuous control.

It's Monday, let's do this

Busy weekend, good busy!

Finished the front universal joints on my daughters jeep, Melissa and I enjoyed a great dinner with our good friends Scott & Jane Saturday.

Sunday we cleaned under the deck and power washed the back of the house started some seeds and most important replaced the old leaky water heater, ahhh hot water.

Now to make some money, let's make this week count.

Water heater action Sunday

It was time, it started leaking about a week and yesterday it started pouring out so it was my Sunday project.

Planting seeds

Melissa and I have been cracking the tops of egg shells and saving them and today she started planting seeds to start our garden. When the seedlings are ready to put in the ground we will plant it with the shell for compost.

Update: Liquid Laundry Soap

Well I have to say that this last batch of soap is working perfect. Melissa started off with adding vinegar along with the soap to remove all the old residue and our cloths are clean and fresh, she's already half way thru the batch I made up (full batch is 128-130 loads). I'm going to make more this coming weekend.
